Apps That You love

Which app is best for creating Landing page?

If we follow Lean startup methodology one of the first tasks is to create landing page that will allow us to collect early adopters and test UVP’s. If we want to do it fast and ‘lean’ we have to use one of the existing applications (making it by yourself would take much longer == waste).

If we want to create Landing Page, we can use:

Unbounce

If we decide to use Unbounce we have  30 days free trial after which we can choose one of the 5 pricing plans - from 25$/month (1000 Unique Users and 2 custom domains) to 500$/month (100k UU and 60 custom domains). In this price we also get access to 3-12 month subscriptions to KISSmetrics, Olark and HelloBear. We can also try free plan limited to one 1 custom domain and 200 UU (created page will have Unbounce branded footer).

Creating Landing Page is very fast – we can use one from 20 existing templates or create own one.  If we want to customize template we have a very powerful WYSWIG editor (it takes some time to learn how to use it).

Unbounce

Unbounce lets You to create Landing Page with max one form (with confirmation dialogs). Forms can have multiple fields (text/checkboxes/radio buttons/drop downs). We can also use custom HTML/CSS/Javacsript code.

Unbounce can be integrated with MailChimp/AWeber – collected leads will be send to these systems automically. There is also easy way to post collected data to custom URL.

Unbounce is very good at A/B testing. You can create many variants of the same page and compare conversion rates.

Unbounce

Unfortunately there is no easy way to create viral Landing Pages (the ones that use referral links) – You will have to do some javascripts tricks to achieve this.

Features:

  • A/B Testing (Free)
  • Custom forms (Free)
  • Integration with MailChimp/AWeber (Free)
  • Custom domains (Free)

LaunchRock

LaunchRock collected over 1 million subscribers with own landing page. At the moment using LaunchRock is free and we don’t have any paid pricing plans. We begin creating Landing Page with WYSWIG editor that allows us to customize texts and choose theme.

LaunchRock

WYSWIG editor is very easy to use, but not too powerful - You can’t change layout (Landing Page contains Name, UVP, Description and one field form – no more no less). You can’t also use existing backgrounds, You have to use own image.  If we want to publish Landing Page we can use it as standalone page or as a widget on existing site. At the moment there is no easy way to perform A/B testing.

LaunchRock is very good choice if we want to use viral marketing. Every registered subscriber gets unique link that can be send to their friends via Twitter/Facebook (for exchange, the ones with the largest number of new registered users will get a faster access to beta version of our product).

Features:

  • Viral sharing via unique customer links (Free)

KickoffLabs

If we want to use KickoffLabs we can choose from one of the four pricing plans. Free plan allow us to create one landing page without custom domains and Google Analytics. If we want to use Google Analytics, Custom Domains and edit SEO meta tags we have to pay 20$/month for a Premium account. What I don’t like is that we don’t have free trials for paid pricing plans.

KickoffLabs creates Landing Pages very similar to LaunchRock. We can choose from one of 5 themes and customize it (using editor we can change texts, colors, backgrounds). WYSWIG editor is not so good as on LaunchRock, if we want to see changes we have to press ‘Apply changes’ button and wait for page reload, but… we can use background colors without creating fake images ;)

KickoffLabs

Features:

  • Viral sharing via unique customer links (Free)
  • Newsletters (Paid)
  • API (Paid)

Summary

  • If we want to create simple page, we don’t use A/B testing or custom forms and don’t want to pay we can use LaunchRock.
  • If we need strong A/B testing, custom forms and can pay some money choose Unbounce.
  • If we don’t need custom domains, and want to create simple landing page in 60 seconds choose KickoffLabs.
